En route from Bogota to Villavo
Urban Villavo
Here’s a piece of pure recio joropo: El Llanerazo. Imagine trying to join the dance at 0:34 and again at 1:02. The beat’s in there somewhere, but if you’ve not been paying attention up until that point then good luck finding it.
The saddlery stores and the motor repair street.
A very cheap pair of cotizas.
The Piedra del Amor, with rather a nice view over the plains, assuming you’re not distracted by dipping gooey cheese into a hot drink.
The main square in Villavo, with its massive, all encompassing Ceiba tree.
Motorbikes parked up in central Villavicencio.
En route to Puerto Lopez
The point of it all – the obelisk. This is considered the geographical centre of the country. Regardless, it’s about as fine a view of the Llanos as you’ll get from anywhere

Good food and good company, finally – eating falsa mamona with Heidi and her cousin back in Villavo.
On to Acacias.
And so to El Pentagrama. This is one of the songs the band covered: Ya No Le Camino Más by Walter Silva
Let’s all sing along! Except me, because all those present value their sanity. Also, I don’t know the words. Note also the two glasses of water. I can drink two at a time because I’m crazy like that.
I think it’s time for a dance. I think it’s been time for a dance for quite a while now, hasn’t it?
And now, with the rains coming, it’s time to move on.
